At Piano, we recognize the role and impact online technologies have on the economy, society and the environment. We are committed to operating responsibly, guided by the ISO 26000 principles and aligned with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

🎯 SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

⚖️ SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions

👩‍💼 SDG 5, 10 & 4 – Gender Equality, Reduced Inequality & Quality Education

🌍 SDG 13 – Climate Action

These goals shape our missions and actions to build more sustainable and better ethical digital ecosystems that support diverse, robust and purposeful online businesses.

Direct & Better Revenue for Online Platforms

At Piano, we believe that sustainable growth should be rooted in ethical practices.

The core of our activity is to develop and provide our customers with digital marketing software, that allows them to:

  • Own their data,

  • Get high-quality data, so they can

  • Optimise at the most the capacity of their platforms, to finally

  • Get the most revenue out of it, and

  • Seek the most independency

This business model is an alternative to the one provided by dominant players on the market, and participate to:

  • The pluralism of actors on the market

  • A fair competition

  • Strengthen the digital economy

  • The sustainability of online activities

Privacy & Compliance

ignorantia juris non excusat” - “ignorance of law excuses no one”.

At Piano, we acknowledge the impact online marketing solutions may have on end-users’ privacy, and we recognise all applicable laws and regulations in each market we operate, led by the strictest ones like the GDPR and ePrivacy.

We believe that building advanced and valuable solutions is compatible with the regulation, and that working with data that has been collected lawfully makes the data-driven decisions taken out of it even more powerful.

Our products are developed with “privacy by design and by default” principles, making sure our customers can use it in a compliant way, and ensuring end-users’ fundamental rights towards their data will be always fulfilled.

This vision of “privacy first” in the digital marketing sector has been recognised with two key achievements validated by the European Data Protection Board

  • The Binding Corporate Rules (BCR), that validate, over time, the compliance of the processing of personal data inside the entities of Piano group with the GDPR.

  • The Europrivacy certification of our Piano Analytics solution, that demonstrates, over time, the compliance of the audience measurement purpose of this tool with the GDPR.

People & Culture

Even in the digital world, humans are at the core of the value proposition and creation.

At Piano, we attach particular importance of involving everyone into our CSR commitments towards the digital services we offer to our clients and creating the best possible conditions for employees to express their talents to the full. In particular with:

  • A transparent and inclusive recruitment process,

  • Respecting the labour law in each country we operate,

  • A career monitoring and management,

  • Actions to promote well-being at work (participation in sports or mediation activities, encouraging the use of alternative transport to get to work, etc.),

  • Raising awareness of societal issues, particularly those relating to disabilities or gender equality

Alongside internal actions towards our employee, we also acknowledge the fact that:

  • We must maintain a good level of relationship with our customers and partners to operate on the long-term, especially by providing them with a first-class product support and other dedicated services to get the full value of the solution.

  • The online products we develop should meet accessibility standards, and notably the one provided by Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, to ensure as many people as possible use it in a proper way.

  • We have a role in educating the society regarding the opportunity, at the university, but also among our ecosystems.

Sustainability

Digital activities account for approximately 4% of global CO2 emissions — a number projected to double rapidly, especially with the rise of Artificial Intelligence that consumes more and more energy.

At Piano, we are building our first global carbon footprint at group level, to consolidate information especially related to our products and offices. The first insight is that the SaaS product we are selling to our customers produces the most significant amount of CO2 emissions.

As product performance and costs optimisation are highly connected with the computing and energies resources necessary to provide the service, some of our solutions, operating on a mutualised public cloud, have data frugality principles at their core with:

  • Data center & Network optimisation (light tagging libraries, predefined data retention periods on data bases, smart resources allocation when requesting data, insights on data and information collected but with no usage inside the solution, …)

  • Product usages optimisation (Eco-mode when requesting data to lower computing resources, Data Sharing feature to avoid data duplication across infrastructure, several usage limitation to avoid too many simultaneous computing resources usages, …)

Less is More – Doing Better with Less Data

At Piano, we believe in the principle of data minimisation — not as a constraint, but as a conscious choice and an opportunity. In an age of exponential digital growth, frugality becomes a strength: focusing on essentials, built with purposes and clear targets.

This mindset is at the heart of our CSR strategy, enabling us to drive innovation that is sustainable, inclusive, and ethical. We think that by doing better with less, we create more value — for our clients, our society, and the planet.

For us, the benefits of a digital frugality approach for businesses include:

  • 💰Costs reduction for all stakeholders

  • 📈 Faster, more efficient, and more accessible digital products

  • 🔐 Better compliance with privacy and data protection laws

  • 🌍 Lower environmental impact
